Fish Food Festival in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The time for all fish lovers in Guwahati to cherish has come! A Fish Food Festival is being organized by the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation Limited in cooperation with National Fisheries Development Board.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in his Chief Guest of Honour speech yesterday, stated that the fishery sector has immense potential. Assam is blessed with abundant water resources and the state has the capacity to become the biggest producer and exporter of fish in the country. But for that, it must adopt the latest scientific technologies for augmenting the production.

The Fishery Department has been able to increase the state’s fish production by 20,000 metric tonnes in 2017-18 from the previous year.  The CM further encouraged youths to take up fishery as a profession and contribute to the cause of making the state self-reliant in fish production. The massive potential of Brahmaputra and Barak rivers must be harnessed to grow the fishery sector, Sarbananda Sonowal said.

Those interested can visit the festival from 10th January to 12th January 2019 held at Brindaban Garden, Zoo Road in the city.
