GUWAHATI: In a press meet presided over by Kamrup (M) DC, Biswajit Pegu said that farmers will be provided Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans in Kamrup (Metro) in a bid to boost crop production.
District administration is first targeting 11,002 farmers which are already registered with the PM Kisan Yojana in Kamrup (M).
To apply for loan, the farmer must have a minimum of 3 bighas of land and the loan amount will depend on the land holding with a subsidised rate of interest at 4 percent.
It is to be mentioned that in this scheme a maximum of Rs 3 lakhs can be availed and upto Rs. 1.60 lakhs, no mortgage would be needed to apply.
Farmers who are engaged in livestock and fishery farming can also avail the loan which will be provided by banks within 14 days of application.
The KCC scheme also has an insurance component attached to it for farmers in an event of crop failure due to floods or other reasons.
