GUWAHATI: Liquor shops in Assam will not shut down completely. However, there will be a short breaks or closure on sale of liquor by wine shops for a few hours.
The temporary shutdown will last for only up to 3 to 4 hours today for stock checking as the price of liquor has been increased due to 25 percent taxes to be levied on the MRP as intimated by the state Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya while exclusively talking to G Plus.
With the state’s decision to increase excise duty slab to generate additional revenue for the government, the news of liquor shops being shut down in Assam was being circulated by some local media houses.
