GUWAHATI: A viral video has been doing the rounds on the internet which shows a man being surrounded and attacked by three tigers is not from Assam.
It has been claimed that a 60-year-old man reportedly lost his life, and another was severely injured in a tiger attack during their cattle-grazing routine in Velai Gaon Village, Nonoi Area of Assam's Nagaon District.
As per media reports, the two men were said to be en route to the field with their cattle when a sudden tiger appeared from the nearby forest resulted in a ferocious attack.
It was also reported that both victims were claimed to have sustained grave injuries and were said to have been transported to Nagaon Bhogeswari Phukanani Hospital for medical intervention. Media reports stated that one of them had succumbed to his injuries and that the tiger remained at large.
However, a fact-check conducted by GPlus found that the video is from 2017 and was shot inside a zoo in China. GPlus found a Daily Mail article which stated that the incident happened at the Youngor Wildlife Park in Ningbo, around 200 kilometres south of Shanghai.
