Excise Crackdown On Illicit Liquor Sale In Guwahati

 

GUWAHATI: In a recent effort to curb illicit liquor sale activities in Guwahati, particularly in the Basishtha circle covering areas such as Beharbari, Jayanagar, Beltola, Khanapara, Tipura Road, and Lokhra, enforcement operations were carried out on September 21. Approximately 17 litres of illegal Illicitly Distilled (ID) liquor was confiscated.

Three cases were detected under Section 61B, and a total fine of ₹4,000 was collected as penalties during the operations. Notably, no individuals were arrested during the day's operations under Section 53(1)(a) of the A.E. Act 2018.

Raids were conducted at dhabas located in the Beltola area, with specific focus on Raju Dhaba and Suresh Dhaba. However, these actions did not result in any significant seizures or detentions.

Khanapara also witnessed temporary naka checking activities during which 19 vehicles were subjected to thorough inspections. Surprisingly, no individuals were detained, and no items were seized during this operation.
