GUWAHATI: Assam’s eminent vocalist Padmashree Dipali Borthakur passed away on Friday, 21 December, at the age of 77 at Nemcare Hospital, Guwahati after a prolonged illness.
It is to be mentioned that Borthakur received the fourth-highest civilian award of India, the Padma Shri, in the year 1998.
Her songs are sung mainly in the Assamese language, and she is known as the "Nightingale of Assam".
