GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was presented with the Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee award 2020 for Politics at the 6th India Ideas Conclave on February 28.
The award was presented to Chief Minister Sonowal by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Speaker of People’s Majlis of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed.
The award carries a citation, a specially designed trophy and a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh.
Taking to the Twitter CM Sonowal wrote, "Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was a great son of Maa Bharati. His supreme sacrifice for the nation and ideal of Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan are our guiding force. Honoured to receive the Dr SP Mukherjee Award 2020 and I thank @indfoundation for this honour."
