GUWAHATI: In a recent development, doctors Sangeeta Datta and Waliul Islam have been hit with another chargesheet, media reports stated.
The second chargesheet was filed against them on Thursday at the Paltan Bazar Police Station, under case number 201/2023.
This comes merely three days after a chargesheet was filed in the first case, registered as number 117/23 in the court. Notably, Sangeeta Datta participated in the court hearing via video conferencing.
The doctor couple now faces a multitude of charges under 12 different sections of various laws.
One of the serious allegations against them is under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Furthermore, Lakhi Roy, another individual involved in the case, has been charged with IPC sections 307, 325, 326, 341, and 506. Utpala Bose, yet another accused party, is facing charges under Section 370(5)/80 of the Child Judicial Act.
