GUWAHATI: The sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (V&AC) branch of Assam detained a sub-inspector of Dispur Police Station on charges of extortion on September 26.
According to reports, based on a complaint by an SBI official, the V&AC arrested one identified as Rohin Pegu who has been accused of demanding Rs 50,000 from the bank official.
It is to be mentioned that earlier, in July, Dispur Police had arrested three of their men for allegedly looting Rs 20 lakh from a woman.
The three accused have been identified as Sub-Inspectors (SI) Hiranya Pathari, Probationer SI Pranjal Bora of Hatigaon Police Station and one Home Guard from Dispur PS Bipul Hazarika.
In the meanwhile, V&AC is currently investigating the matter.
