GUWAHATI: In anticipation of the 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election scheduled for January 8, 2024, polling officials, including zonal magistrates, sector officials, presiding officials, and police personnel, have successfully concluded their transit to respective polling duties in Dima Hasao district.
The movement of officials occurred in two phases, commencing on January 6 for 58 polling stations and continuing on January 7 for 173 polling stations. Out of the total 28 constituencies, elections in 22 constituencies are set to take place today.
Notably, six constituencies have already been declared uncontested. In case of the necessity for a repoll, it is scheduled for January 10, and the final results will be announced on January 12, 2024.
A total of 1,40,149 voters, comprising 69,823 males and 70,326 females, will cast their votes across 231 polling stations. Identified among them are 15 very sensitive polling stations, 36 sensitive polling stations, and 21 comparatively safe polling stations. Additionally, 16 polling stations have an all-women staff, consisting of both civil and police officials.
