COVID-19 Update: 786 New Cases in 24 Hours, Assam Crosses 12,000 Mark

GUWAHATI: COVID-19 tally in Assam has gone up to 12,522. Of these, 4,623 people are currently active and 7,882 people have recovered from the infectious disease so far. The death toll from COVID-19 in Assam stands at 14.

786 new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded from across the state, as per state health Minister's twitter update at 11:55 PM on July 6.

“Alert ~ 786 new cases detected in Assam today, with 598 cases from Guwahati City alone. Please follow #SocialDistancing, wear #mask & maintain hygiene,” tweeted the minister.

Kamrup Metro happens to be the worst affected district in the state and is the new COVID-19 hotspot of the region. The district has been under a 14-day lockdown since 29 June. 

Certain relaxations have been announced in Kamrup Metro for people to be able to procure essentials.
