Coronavirus Lockdown: All Essential Shop Owners to Carry ID Card: DGP

GUWAHATI: Assam DGP, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Wednesday, March 25 said that during the lockdown period, all essential shop owners will have to carry valid ID cards.

While addressing a press meet, he said, “Those who are working in government offices must carry a letter from the office.”

He also urged people to act as responsible citizens, “Police will question people on roads, and those found to be lying, they will be charged as per law.”

Mahanta further said that people will not be allowed to take their vehicles while going to the market for shopping.

“People must go in walking distance and gathering of no more than four persons will be allowed.”

He further added that meat and fish stops will remain open, as per the central government’s order.

Additionally, Assam Bhawans in different states have been informed to provide aid to Assamese people stuck in other states.
