This decision marks a continued commitment to peaceful negotiations and aims to involve the Naga people in achieving lasting peace in the region. The ceasefire will operate under the previously established Ceasefire Ground Rules, which have been mutually agreed upon by both parties. These ground rules will also be subject to periodic review and possible amendment, with both sides actively participating in the process.

The official signing of the agreement took place on September 4, 2024, with representatives from both the Government of India and NSCN (K-Nikki) appending their signatures to formalise the extension.

This agreement signals a positive step towards stability in Nagaland, as both parties continue to work towards resolving long-standing issues through dialogue and cooperation.
