GUWAHATI: The centre on January 8 approved Rs 5559 crores to Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) to connect all northeast state capitals with gas pipeline.
IGGL is said to be laying 1665 kilometre of gas pipeline across the northeast which will eventually boost industrial development.
Earlier in 2019, in order to supply piped natural gas in the city, Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL), Oil India Ltd (OIL) and GAIL Gas Ltd (GGL) had signed a joint venture agreement on July 11.

As part of the agreement, the three companies have formed a consortium to develop and implement the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Guwahati and Kamrup (M) district.
