Congress candidate Sujal Singha, who won from Srirampur constituency in the BTC election, has joined the saffron party in presence of Himanta Biswa Sarma at Hotel Lily in Guwahati on December 14 evening.

Following the move, the tally for the BJP has reached 10 members from nine. As of now, the UPPL-BJP is set to form the BTC government with Pramod Boro as the Chief Executive Member (CEM).

Meanwhile, Sujal Singh's joining can be a blow to the single majority party, Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF), as they look for another four seats to form the majority. They are currently four short of the majority 21 seats needed to form the council government.
