The District Administration of East Imphal has ordered a ban on the broadcast of the ongoing protests against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. This is by the Civil Society Organisations under the banner of Manipur People against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (MANPAC) and People Alliance Manipur.

The District Administration has also banned the use of internet services in the state for five days so that it becomes harder for protesting organisations to assemble and stage protests. Reports of incidents of violence have come in from numerous areas of the state as protesters have been involved in tussles with the authorities. Section 144 CrPC has also been imposed in the scheduled areas of the district.
