GUWAHATI: The water level in the Brahmaputra River at Guwahati which had already crossed the danger mark is now at 50.75 cms and is continuously rising as per the District Disaster Management Authority’s (DDMA) Report as of this morning. The danger level of the river is 49.68 cms and 48.68 cms is the warning mark.
Six more deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours as incessant rains continue to wreak havoc across the state of Assam.

Of the newly recorded deaths, one each was reported from Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Kamrup, Golaghat and Sivasagar districts taking the death toll by floods up to 50.
Meanwhile, floods have affected around 21.6 lakh people in over 2,700 villages across 27 districts of Assam so far as per Assam State Disaster Management’s latest flood report.
Over 60,000 people are now taking shelter in 480 relief camps and centers set up across the state. More than 1,00,000 hectares of crop area is now submerged underwater with close to 18 lakh domestic animals both big and small affected by the disaster.
