Who doesn’t want to look glamorous? Who would not want to be the centre of attraction in a crowd for their looks and style? Whatever you desire for, Guwahati girl Meher Ahmed will deliver you exactly the right balance of glamour.

Meher Ahmed, born and brought up in Guwahati is the second daughter of her parents and also the middle child of the three siblings. She did her schooling from St Mary’s English High School, and completed her +2 (plus two) from Faculty Higher Secondary School. She then joined NIFT, to pursue what she calls her “dream.”

Meher was fascinated by her dream at a very tender age; she wanted to do something with clothes ever since she could remember. She had very little knowledge about fashion until she completed her high school. All she can remember now is that her father used to make her listen to classic English songs like Boney M. and Abba and that’s how she discovered the fashion trends watching the videos of these songs.

The creative girl that Meher was since childhood, she found books very mundane. Her interests were mainly in arts, crafts and sports, and that’s how it all began. She would often sit at home and invest her time in stitching, making different crafts and actively getting involved in swimming. She considers her marks to be the validating point that pushed her to pursue a career which had something to do with artistic approach.

Meher, was the first female contestant to appear on MTV Roadies Season 3 and was the only contestant selected from Pune in 2005. She was one of the top 5 contestants of the season. After MTV Roadies, she soon moved back to her interest of working in the fashion industry. During her process of being part of MTV Roadies, she came across fashion stylists for the first time, and found their work very interesting. “That’s when I decided that I want to be a stylist,” she said. And, the rest is history...

Today, Meher’s name stands tall among the most sought after fashion stylists of the Bollywood. She has worked with several A-list celebrities and top notch actors of Bollywood. Her clientele boasts of names like Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Yami Gautam, AR Rahman, Neha Dhupia, Randeep Hooda, Irfaan Khan, Kalki Koechlin, Chitrangada Singh, Shilpa Shetty, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Diana Penty, Angad Bedi amongst the lot.

Sonakshi Sinha and Late Jiah Khan were her first clients whom she styled.

In the words of Meher, a stylist is a very significant asset and is one of the most important people in a celebrity's team.

The cover photos of the top magazines like Femina and Vogue often leave people in awe. But not many people know what it takes to give the perfect look. When a cover shoot is done, Meher creates a mood board based on the theme. The themes may vary from spring, to lounge, to luxury wear and sports edition. After that she would create the looks, bring outfit from various designers and make an ensemble.

Meher takes pride in the fact that her clientele is based on reference from others. “For me everything has happened on recommendation. The industry is very small, everybody gets to know who is working on what. If you are good with work, someone will definitely recommend you,” she adds. Meher is now working as the personal stylist for AR Rahman.

According to her, Kangana Ranaut has one of the best sense of style in the industry.

Meher, started her career from the scratch without any financial help from anyone. Inspite of earning a good name in the industry, she says that her struggle is still on.

Meher shared that when she was working for Roadies, people were often amazed with her style and fashion sense. She considers Guwahati very fashionable in its own way. She feels that the city still has ample opportunities to make a mark in fashion.
