GUWAHATI: Alleging that a fake campaign was being carried out against the BJP by the Congress and some sections over CAA, Rupam Goswami, state spokesperson of BJP told G Plus that BJP’s Mission 100 is totally realistic.
Goswami said, “We have already 86 seats with us, so we need just 14 more seats to fulfill our target of 100 seats and we have a stronghold in more than 13 constituencies. We have worked with dedication in the last five years and people are very happy with our work. We have worked for the tea-workers and established 5 women’s colleges. Immense work has been done to improve roads and many medical colleges have also been set up.”
Q. It is seen that whoever wins majority in upper Assam usually forms the government. In the last election the BJP won majority seats while Congress had a downfall. But upper Assam has seen major protests against the CAA. Do you think BJP will be able to retain its position even after this?
A. See the protests were based on lies, as people were told that there would be an influx of 2 to 3 crore foreigners. However, people have now understood the facts and so the intensity of such protests has lessened. Also, the matter is now in Supreme Court and all have to follow its verdict. People have understood the lies underneath these rumors.
Q. AASU has said that they would not be protesting PM’s visit to Bodoland?
A. The tribal communities of Assam like the Bodos, Karbi and others were not associated in the anti-CAA protests. The Assamese are highly emotional but now they have learned the truth as well as the conspiracy behind the violence.
Q. It is heard that many MLAs would not be getting tickets in 2021 and BJP is planning to introduce around 20 to 25 new candidates.
A. I have heard the same but no such official statement has been made. BJP has always removed the non-workers. Last time 5 to 6 candidates were removed. So, some might be removed to give chances to the new. In spite of elections BJP is always with the people.
