GUWAHATI: In a significant development in the Guwahati child abuse case, the bail pleas of Sangeeta Datta, the prime accused, and Utpala Bose, the personal assistant of Datta, were rejected by the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court.
The court proceedings witnessed Advocate Deepa Bezbaruah presenting strong arguments on behalf of the prosecution, leading to the denial of bail for both accused individuals.
Sangeeta Datta and Utpala Bose are facing severe charges related to the abuse of minors.
Additionally, authorities have filed two charge sheets against Sangeeta Datta and her husband, Waliul Islam.
Previously, the doctor couple, Sangeeta Datta, and her partner were allegedly charged under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Moreover, Utpala Bose, the personal assistant, has been accused under Section 370(5)/80 of the Child Judicial Act.
