Auspicious timings: BJP likely to announce candidates' list after Holika Dahan tonight

GUWAHATI: The delay in the announcement of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates for the 10 Lok Sabha seats from Assam and other states has given fodder to endless theories. From internal rivalry to interference by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and disagreement within the party, the list of stories in the media gives an impression that something is brewing in New Delhi.

Well, as per sources close to G Plus it has been known that the BJP is just waiting for the auspicious moment, post-Holika Dahan (a pyre burning ritual before Holi) to announce the list of its candidates for maximum seats. The Holika Dahan auspicious timings are from 9:28 PM to midnight. It seems the BJP list will be announced between these timings.

The BJP Assam state election committee meeting with Amit Shah in New Delhi has ended this morning and the final endorsement will be after the Central Election Committee meeting that is reported to start after 6 PM, Wednesday.

In Indian mythology, Holika was a demoness and was burnt on a pyre by Lord Vishnu while trying to save his devotee Prahlad, the son of asura king Hiranyakashipu. The ritual signifies the victory of good over evil after Holika the demoness is burnt on a pyre. Also, the fasting for Poornima (full moon) will start after the Holika Dahan.
