The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has donated a fully air-conditioned Bharat Benz Bus to transport cancer patients from the Mumbai Assam Bhawan to the Tata Memorial hospital and other cancer treatment centres located in Mumbai.

The service was inaugurated on 9th December by Ashok Kumar Bhattarai, Chairman of ASTC, in presence of the members of the Assam Association led by its president Dr. Jyotirmoy Das.
Earlier, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowari had announced such a facility to empower and support cancer patients from Assam who visit Mumbai for treatment, along with the officers and staff of the Assam Bhawan, Mumbai.
The bus service shall be absolutely free of cost and will be maintained and sponsored by the Deepsikha Foundation.
