Assistant Secretary of SEBA Arrested for Allegedly Taking Bribe

GUWAHATI: The Assistant Secretary of the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) was arrested by the anti-corruption bureau on 18th September for allegedly taking bribe.


Assistant Secretary Hemanta Deka was arrested by a 12 member team of the anti-corruption bureau for allegedly taking Rs. 8000 from a guardian for changing a name in his daughter's 10th exam (HSLC) documents. 


The guardian, Shivkumar Bhujel, complained to the bureau when Hemanta Deka initially sought Rs. 10,000 for changing the student's name but later agreed at Rs. 8,000.


Reportedly, the assistant secretary of SEBA has a track record of corrupt practices and was nabbed after 5 hours of operation. 


The case is currently developing as Hemanta Deka continues to be interrogated.
