Assistant Commissioner Of Bajali District In Assam Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe

GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam, today, April 5 caught a senior official red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 in his office.

Gaurav Shekhar Das, who is serving as the Assistant Commissioner in Bajali district, was trapped by DVAC officials immediately after he received the bribe from a complainant. The bribe was demanded in exchange for allowing the complainant to carry out earth-cutting without official obstruction.

The operation was carried out following a formal complaint, and officials acted swiftly to apprehend Das with the bribe amount in his possession. Further investigation into the case is underway.
