GUWAHATI: Flood situation in Assam’s Silchar is deteriorating fast. According to fresh reports and available visuals, some parts of Silchar town have been massively hit by flood waters.

The Army has been called and several columns of the Army are engaged in rescue and relief operations in Silchar. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has also been busy in flood relief operations.

Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters on Monday, June 20, that the relief and rescue operation has been started by SDRF, NDRF, Indian Army, Air Force, State Government and Railways, to help those in distress.

“Tomorrow, the Indian Air Force will carry one lakh litre diesel and petrol to Silchar. Such a huge air dropping had never been recorded in Assam. The NF Railway is also getting ready to run special relief trains. All the departments are working round the clock in coordination to provide relief to those affected. There is no lack of funds for rescue and relief operations,” said CM Sarma.
