The scam reportedly took place during Deka’s tenure as a Development Officer in Darrang. He is accused of colluding with land mafias, particularly a known figure named Kulendra Nath, to illegally transfer land ownership. The allegations suggest that land meant for temple construction was fraudulently registered in the names of other individuals in exchange for hefty bribes.

Talking to GPlus, a senior official from the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell said, “A property assessment has been conducted against him as part of the investigation.” While the extent of financial transactions and beneficiaries remains unclear, authorities are pursuing leads to determine the full scope of the scam.

Further investigation is underway.
