GUWAHATI: Assam Congress spokesperson Reetam Singh has been re-arrested and brought to Morigaon, where he was presented before the District and Sessions Judge’s Court on the evening of April 3. His re-arrest follows a case filed by Dhonti Sharma, triggering fresh legal proceedings against him.

Singh, who had earlier spent two days in police custody, was taken into custody again by a team led by Morigaon Additional Superintendent of Police, Pritam Saikia. The Morigaon Police sought a seven-day remand, but the court granted only two days before his re-arrest. While being escorted by police, Reetom Singh alleged political vendetta behind his arrest.

Speaking to the media, he said, “A political conspiracy has been hatched against me. A case has been filed just because I spoke about Ambedkar.”

The case against Singh stems from an FIR lodged at Morigaon Sadar Police Station, which led to his initial detention.
