The projects were approved during a meeting of the Alignment Approval Committee (AAC) held on Thursday, and it was chaired by the Secretary of Road Transport and Highways (RT&H) at Transport Bhawan in New Delhi.

One of the major projects approved includes the expansion of National Highway 15 (NH-15) in Assam. The project entails the construction of a four-lane road from Baihata Chariali to the Mangaldoi Bypass, linking NH-15 to NH-27 (formerly NH-31). Additionally, the plan includes the extension of NH-15 from Mangaldoi to Mission Chariali in Rangia NH Division, excluding the Mangaldoi Bypass.

Apart from Assam, the meeting also approved several other highway projects across various states. These include the construction of a bypass road to Kolabira Town in Odisha and the four-laning of the Malia to Pipaliya section of NH-151A in Gujarat. Also, the Churaibari to Agartala road section in Tripura will undergo an upgrade from two to six lanes.

In Uttar Pradesh, two major projects have been sanctioned, including the construction of a two-lane paved shoulder highway from Dramandganj to the Madhya Pradesh border on NH-135C. Another project involves the development of a six-lane access-controlled greenfield highway connecting Pratapgarh to Ayodhya.

Rajasthan will also witness infrastructure improvements with the construction of a four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Alwar-Nuh on NH-248A and realignment work on the Jhunjunu-Chirawa-Singhana-Pacheri section of NH-11.
