Assamese beauty bags ‘Mrs India Earth - Face of Northeast’ title

Assam's Pranami Priya Hazarika successfully grabbed her position among the top 48 finalists from different parts of the country at the Mrs India Earth 2017 contest and later went on to win the title of ‘Mrs India Earth - Face of Northeast.’

“It was a matter of great pride and honour to represent my state and the entire northeast on national platform as the Face of Northeast,” Priya Hazarika said on winning the title. She further added, “I think the Northeast is full of talents and I feel delighted that our talents are getting recognition, not just nationally, but globally.”
Born and raised in Guwahati, Priya did her schooling from Arunodaya English Medium High School and went on to pursue higher secondary and graduation from Shrimanta Shankar Academy and Handique Girls’ College respectively. She further did a course in Fashion Designing from North East Institute of Fashion Technology (NEIFT), Guwahati.

A survivor of violence and physical abuse, she desires to raise her voice on violence against women and wants to make the best out of the platform which says, 'Beauty with a cause'. She credits her past for her determination in life saying, “I think my hard past gives my beauty an edge over others because you cannot harm a woman who wears pain like diamond around her neck.”

Recently, she started a campaign called ‘Who feeds a hungry animal, feeds his own soul’ to feed the hungry stray dogs. Being an animal lover herself, Priya Hazarika believes that God has made humans capable enough to do good for the society and not just for themselves. She also wishes to build a shelter home for stray dogs in the near future.
