Assam Woman wins award for Swachhata

GUWAHATI: A woman from Assam, Hiralaxmi Baruah from Tinsukia has received the National Anganwadi Worker Award for her exceptional contribution towards Swachhata. By winning this award, she has set an example for everyone in the state and the country who want to contribute to the mission of swachhata. 

Anganwadi is a type of rural child care centre in India. They were started by the Indian government in 1975 as part of the Integrated Child Development Services program to combat child hunger and malnutrition. Anganwadi means "courtyard shelter.”
