GUWAHATI: Assam Transport Minister, Parimal Suklabaidya paid a surprise visit to ferry ghats in Guwahati on Monday, July 11.
The minister made a surprise visit to Guwahati-North Guwahati, Guwahati Madhyam Khanda and Guwahati Rajaduar Ghats in Fancy Bazar area of the city to take stock of the services there.
The Minister inspected the terminal facilities at the ferry ghats and also interacted with the staff deployed there. He also inspected the ropax and motor vessels and interacted with the passengers to get first-hand information on issues faced by them.
The Minister has directed the Deputy Director, and Executive Engineers, Inland Water Transport (IWT) to ensure that all passengers are equipped with life jackets while travelling and to maintain cleanliness at the terminals.
Later, the Minister also visited the Directorate Office of Inland Water Transport in Ulubari and inspected the facilities there.
