This initiative is part of the city's effort to boost tourism and make the Brahmaputra River a focal point for visitors.

Talking to GPlus, Jayanta Gogoi, Executive Engineer at IWT said, “The service is due to go live in the third or fourth week of this month. As of now, no certain date has been provided .”

The service, spearheaded by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), will offer visitors a unique way to explore the city’s historical and cultural landmarks along the Brahmaputra River.

This catamaran service will connect four major points: Hanuman Mandir (Bellevue side), Kamakhya, Kachari, and Sukleshwar, giving tourists a fresh perspective of Guwahati’s scenic riverfront. Operated by the Inland Water Transport (IWT) department, two air-conditioned catamarans, each accommodating up to 100 passengers, will run throughout the day.

Tourists can board and disembark at any of the designated stops with a single ticket.
