GUWAHATI: The Assam Transport Department will start Mission All Clear from March 1. It is in continuation to last month's Mission Sarkhar where the Department managed to collect pending dues from vehicle owners.

The Department has warned of strict action against those who fail to renew all the necessary vehicle documents on time.

On Wednesday, Kamrup DTO Gautam Das along with his colleagues was seen busy checking documents of vehicles in the Dispur area in Guwahati. On being asked about the Mission, he said that all vehicle owners must clear all taxes and keep their vehicle documents up to date by renewing. This will help the owners in case the vehicle is involved in some unfortunate incident.

"Creating a secure and transport environment is our duty," Das said to a local TV channel.

DTO Gautam Das said that owners of both commercial and private vehicles need to pay the taxes on time.

"Private vehicles owe over Rs 30 crore as taxes in Guwahati and commercial vehicles owe over Rs 70 crore," Das informed.

Mission All Clear will start from March 1 and will cover all of Assam. The objective of the Mission is to ensure that all the documents are renewed and taxes paid by vehicle owners,  Gautam Das said.
