Assam: Under-construction 5000-Seat Convention Centre To Be Ready By 2025


GUWAHATI: A major convention centre in North East India is expected to be completed by early 2025, says Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

This infrastructure project, boasting a seating capacity of 5,000, aims to solidify Guwahati's position as a premier destination for national and international events. 

CM Sarma has expressed his unwavering commitment to the project, emphasising its significance in boosting the city's economic and cultural landscape.

“We want to establish Guwahati as the preferred venue for national and international exhibitions,” he shared on X.

To ensure that the centre reflects the rich heritage of Assam, Sarma has also proposed the formation of a committee comprising ten renowned artists from the state's cultural community.

The project is expected to attract a significant number of visitors and generate substantial revenue for the local economy.
