Assam Girls Win Roll Ball National Championship In Pune, Boys Bag Bronze Medal

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam girls' team reclaimed the champions' title at the 17th Sub-Junior Roll Ball National Championship, held from September 12 to 15 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex in Pune.

Organised by the Maharashtra Roll Ball Federation and the Roll Ball Federation of India, the tournament saw participation from 28 states. Assam’s girls dominated throughout, winning all their matches, including decisive victories over Gujarat (11-1) and Karnataka (5-1). In the finals, Assam narrowly edged out Rajasthan 3-2, with Avantika and Drashti scoring the crucial goals.

Meanwhile, the Assam boys’ team secured a commendable bronze medal. The boys faced strong competition, ultimately falling to UP 5-8 in the semi-finals after a prior convincing 9-5 win against Odisha in the quarter-finals. The final standings saw UP as champions, Jharkhand as the first runner-up, and Assam in third place.

Throughout the tournament, Assam’s boys demonstrated impressive form, including notable wins over Haryana and Chhattisgarh.
