GUWAHATI: The Assam government has approved the establishment of two milk processing plants in Jorhat and Dibrugarh, each with a capacity of 100 TLPD (thousand liters per day).

This was announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a state cabinet meeting that was held on Friday, January 10.
Plans are also underway to set up similar plants in Dhemaji and Cachar districts.
The initiative has been particularly taken to strengthen the dairy supply chain, create job opportunities, and enhance self-reliance in milk production.
Additionally, the government also approved the restructuring of the Directorate of Town and Country Planning to address challenges such as urban flooding and other critical urban issues of the state.
