Assam to Conduct Recruitment Exams Through Universities

GUWAHATI: Assam government will conduct recruitment examinations for all departments through universities from now on, informed chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna. 


According to an official notification issued by the Assam government, all examinations for Police, Home Guards, Prisons, P&RD and Labour Deptts exams will be held in Dibrugarh University.


Similarly, exams for the Industries & Commerce, Skill Development, Transport, Excise, Forest & Environment Department will be held in Gauhati University.


Social Welfare and Soil Conservation Department exams will be held in Assam University; and those of the Irrigation Department will be held in Tezpur University.


Earlier, the Chief Secretary met the Vice-Chancellors of the five public universities, along with the registrars as well as controller of examinations of the varsities.


The decision to conduct the exams through universities was taken during the meeting held on the instructions of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
This move was taken after the SI (Sub-Inspector) Recruitment Scam came to light.
