GUWAHATI: To tackle the persistent issue of unfair practices and the leakage of question papers during public examinations, the Government of Assam has granted approval to The Assam Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024 in the state cabinet meeting on January 22.

The proposed legislation, aimed at curbing malpractices and ensuring the integrity of examinations, is set to be introduced during the upcoming Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, scheduled to commence on February 5.

The primary objective of the bill is to instigate stringent measures that will significantly reduce instances of cheating, question paper leaks, and other unfair means employed by candidates during public examinations. This has also been targeted to foster a fair and transparent examination system, ensuring equal opportunities for all participants.

The Assam Public Examination Bill, once enacted, is expected to empower examination authorities to take robust actions against any form of malpractice. The provisions within the bill will address loopholes and bolster the examination process, promoting a more trustworthy and credible evaluation system.
