GUWAHATI: A team of Goalpara police on Wednesday, January 22, arrested three drug peddlers for possession of drugs. The police recovered 3000 suspected psychotropic tablets from them.
The three were apprehended from Bhurukakuchi area in Goalpara. The arrested include Sahadot Ali, Munna Hoque Chd. and Rofiqul Islam. As per reports, Sahadot Ali lives in Goalpara town while Rofiqul Islam and Munna Hoque Chd. Hail from Kabaitary in Bongaigaon district.
The three were bringing the consignment of these psychotropic tablets to Goalpara in order to supply them to their customers based in the town.
A case has been registered against the arrested persons and the police have begun the interrogation in the matter.
Goalpara Police had tweeted from their official handle: “On 22/01/2020, based on specific input a team led by town ASI Jitendra Sinha and a team of Goalpara Police raided at Bhurukakuchi area and recovered 3000 suspected psychotropic tablets. 3 pedlars namely Sahadot Ali, Munna Hoque Chd. and Rofiqul Islam were arrested.”
