GUWAHATI: The BJP-led state government has cited flaws in the process of preparation of the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and has demanded a sample re-verification to establish its credibility.

The Assam Public Works department had also put forth a demand for re-verification in the Supreme Court.

The state coordinator of NRC, Prateek Hajela, had submitted a report recently explaining why only 10 out of 15 documents which were initially accepted to establish residence in the state prior to March 25, 1971, could be submitted in the claims and objections.

Following this, the Supreme Court had asked for the views of all stakeholders on the report.
