Seminar To Analyse Various Aspects Of NEP 2020 Held At Gauhati University 

 

GUWAHATI: A national seminar was organised by the Gauhati University's department of education on the theme 'Implementation strategies of NEP 2020: Exploring the best practices'. Held on April 4th, 2024, the event marked a milestone in the academic discourse surrounding the reforms in education introduced by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Chief Guest of the programme, Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, delivered the inaugural address, emphasising on the implementation strategies of NEP 2020, highlighting the university's efforts in redesigning various programme curricula in alignment with the policy. Approximately 200 guests, esteemed faculty members, researchers, and students graced the occasion, aimed at deliberating upon the various facets of NEP 2020 and its implications for the education landscape of the nation.

Prof. Dulumoni Goswami, the Head of the Department of Education and President of the Conference, delivered the welcome address, underlining the significance of NEP 2020 in shaping India's educational future. Prominent academician Prof. Aarti Srivastava from NIEPA, New Delhi, delivered the keynote address, emphasising various aspects of NEP 2020 implementation in the country.

A panel discussion moderated by Prof. Gayatree Goswamee, featuring eminent academicians, policymakers, and education experts, was conducted. Prof. Sandip Kumar from Delhi University, Prof. Aarti Srivastava, Prof. S M Sungoh, and Mrs. Pomi Baruah, Director of Higher Education, Assam, delivered speeches as panelists, engaging in thought-provoking exchanges on curriculum reforms, teacher training, digital education, and holistic student development.
