GUWAHATI: A first-year Higher Secondary student from Cotton University allegedly took her own life on Tuesday.
Talking to GPlus, an official from Latasil police station said, "The 17-year-old student jumped from the third floor of her paying guest accommodation in Uzanbazaar in the morning of Tuesday. She was quickly taken to Nemcare Hospital around 10:00 A.M."

According to official information, despite efforts to save her, she was declared dead at 4:30 A.M. on Wednesday.
Post her death the victim was taken to Gauhati Medical College And Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem on Wednesday. Further investigations are underway as we await more details.
However, such grim occurrences and conditions have raised serious questions about the mental health of students.
Talking to GPlus in this context, Syeda Afreen, M.Phil Clinical Psychology Trainee Rehabilitation Council Of India (RCI) said, "Suicide isn't about wanting to die, it's about wanting the pain to stop. Reach out for help. You are loved, and there is hope, even when it feels impossible."
