Assam Spiritual Society To Celebrate Durga Puja For The First Time In Chennai

GUWAHATI: The Assam Spiritual Society will organise its first-ever Durga Puja at Odisha Bhawan in Palikaranai, Chennai from October 9 to October 12. This four-day event marks a significant cultural milestone for the Assamese community in the city.

The society expects a turnout of 1,500 to 2,000 devotees, including participants from Chennai and Pondicherry. The total Assamese population in Chennai, comprising professionals, hotel and restaurant workers, and security personnel, is estimated to be around 3,000 to 3,500. 

This year’s Durga Puja will emphasise the themes of unity, prosperity, and spirituality, with hopes for local residents to join in the festivities, gaining insight into Assamese customs and traditions. The society has extended an open invitation to all Assamese people in Chennai to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga during this auspicious occasion.

Dwip Kinkor Goswami, representing the Assam Spiritual Society, shared, "We warmly invite all Assamese in Chennai to join us in celebrating Durga Puja and take part in this meaningful celebration of our culture and traditions."
