GUWAHATI: Assam Skill University has officially gained recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC, a statutory body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, operates to oversee higher education standards in the country.

The university has now been included under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, which grants it the authority to confer degrees as per the guidelines laid out by the UGC under Section 22 of the same act. This recognition is expected to lend greater credibility to the university's programmes, enhancing the employability of its graduates.
Announcing the achievement, Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share the news, stating: "Assam Skill University is now UGC recognised. In a big boost to our efforts to impart skill education to the youth of Assam, @ugc_india has recognised Assam Skill University, which'll add credibility to courses offered and enhance employability of our youths."
