Assam: Relaxed Lockdown from Today, Curfew from 9:30 PM to 5 AM

GUWAHATI: The lockdown imposed by the Assam government in view of COVID-19 pandemic has been partially relaxed, starting from today, August 17.


While the weekend lockdown stays in place, curfew timings have been changed.

 

“Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 9:30 PM and 5 AM with effect from August 16, 2020,” states the order by chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna.

Further, shops on both sides of the streets have now been allowed to open from Monday to Friday.

 

All permitted activities mentioned in our earlier orders shall continue to be allowed between 5 AM and 9 PM between Monday and Friday. Restrictions of one side of the street are withdrawn,” states the order.

 

Inter-district movement of vehicles has been allowed between Monday to Friday with 50% capacity. City buses have also been allowed to operate with 50% capacity.

The fresh set of guidelines have been issued “after due consideration of the COVID situation as it  prevails in the state of Assam and taking into consideration the latest directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.”

 

However, social, cultural, political, sports, entertainment, religious functions, and gatherings continue to be prohibited. Cinema halls, swimming pools, assembly halls, and likes also remain closed.
