Assam Recognized as Emerging Startup Ecosystem for Incubating 76 Startups

GUWAHATI: Assam has been recognized as one of the emerging startup ecosystems of the country during the "States' Startup Ranking 2019" announced in New Delhi. 

Assam along with Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh, has been recognized for its supportive startup ecosystem that had encouraged youths to take up entrepreneurship.

Assam Startup - The Nest has provided 76 startups with dedicated mentorship, infrastructural support, investors, and market connections.

"Rigorous grooming of the first batch of 50 startups since their onboarding in June 2019 has resulted in incredible growth for the startups. Together, they have impacted 3.2 lakh lives, given direct employment to 1,690 people, generated total revenue of Rs. 11 crores and have together raised aggregate funding of Rs. 7.2 crore. The second batch of 26 startups is currently receiving incubation support run in a Cohort mode,” the government stated.

The recognition was made by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Piyush Goyal, Minister for Railways and Commerce and Industry during the ‘Startup India Awards 2020’ held online from National Media Centre, New Delhi.
