Addressing the media in his residence, the CM has revealed that the government will be formed in the council by the UPPL, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP). All the three parties combined will have 22 seats with them winning 12, 9 and 1 seat respectively.

On the other hand, the BPF has 17 seats, which is short of crossing the majority mark by 4 seats although it is the single largest party. The majority mark is 21 seats.

The CM's statement comes amid the call by the BPF supremo and former BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary's request to BJP to form an alliance in the BTC.

The BPF had invited the BJP to form a government together. Hagrama Mohilary spoke to the reporters and expressed the intention of a coalition with the BJP. "Since we are in alliance with the BJP in Central as well as the State, our party is hopeful that the BJP will support us in forming the goverment," Mohilary told reporters.

However, the comments made by the CM indicate the rejection of BPF's political advances by the BJP.

The CM has further congratulated all the different ethnic communities of the region. The CM has informed that necessary paperwork has been prepared to submit the Governor for their claim to form the BTC government.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah has congratulated the local ally UPPL and his own party for the victory. "NDA secured a comfortable majority in Assam BTC election. Congratulations to our ally UPPL, CM Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Ranjit Dass and BJP Assam," posted Shah on Twitter.
