GUWAHATI: The Assam Police intercepted a truck carrying illegal liquor near Khathkhati in Bokajan on Thursday night, December 5. The vehicle was en route to Dimapur when it was stopped by authorities.

Upon inspection, 300 cartons of alcohol, valued at over ₹10 lakh in the market, were seized. The truck’s driver was arrested at the scene.
Police have also detained two other individuals in connection with the smuggling operation; one from Khathkhati and a liquor dealer from Sivasagar.
Preliminary investigations further suggest the seized liquor was being transported to Nagaland, where alcohol is banned, under the coordination of a local liquor mafia.
Efforts are underway to locate another Dimapur-based man, suspected to be a key figure in the illegal liquor racket.
