GUWAHATI: No private lab in Assam has been authorised to conduct the COVID-19 test, confirmed officials of the health and family welfare department.
Further, it is to be mentioned that currently there are four accredited testing centres for coronavirus in Assam. These include Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) Lahowal, Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) and Silchar Medical College.
Additionally, no positive case of coronavirus has been reported in the state till now.
On the other hand, the government of India capped the price of testing in private laboratory at a maximum of Rs 4,500 per case.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in a press release, issued guidelines for such labs to follow amidst the coronavirus outbreak. While the body encourages free or subsidized prices, it has set a cap when it comes to the costing of testing samples.
