GUWAHATI: The Assam Weightlifting Association has announced a 17-member squad comprising nine girls and eight boys who will represent the state in the upcoming 7th Khelo India Youth Games, scheduled to be held in Rajgir, Bihar from 9-15 May 2025.

The association confirmed the selection of these young lifters as per the list finalised by the Indian Weightlifting Federation. The Sports Department of Assam has also organised a short coaching camp for the selected athletes starting from April 28 to prepare them for the national event.
The selected girls’ squad includes:
1. Niharika Saikia (40kg)
2. Kristi Kuku Saikia (45kg)
3. Appun Kutum (49kg)
4. Aisangfa Gogoi (55kg)
5. Bhavana Gogoi (59kg)
6. Junalee Sonowal (59kg)
7. Tiluchana Phukan (64kg)
8. Satabdi Bhuyan (64kg)
9. Riya Mohan (81kg)
The boys’ team features:
1. Manash Protim Duarah (48kg)
2. Ajijur Ali (48kg)
3. Dharmajyoti Dewgharia (55kg)
4. Hariprasad Kachari (55kg)
5. Abhinob Gogoi (67kg)
6. Hemanta Doimary (73kg)
7. Bedabrat Bharali (73kg)
8. Chankya Bora (102kg)
Coaches Santanu Gogoi and Anup Konwar will accompany the squad. Additionally, Bhabajyoti Goswami, an International Category 1 Referee, will attend the championship in an official capacity.
